SUMMARY OF TERMS & CONDITIONS
While original photographs may have great sentimental value, they are not insured for any financial value while in my care, as personal photographs cannot usually be formally valued.
Customers are strongly advised to make a copy of any original photograph before sending it for restoration, as a replacement print can usually be made from a copy.
Every reasonable care is taken while photographs are in my possession. This includes scanning original photographs as soon as practicable and securely storing the resulting digital file. In the unlikely event that an original photograph is lost or damaged while I have it, I will, where possible, provide a replacement print made from my digital scan or from a copy supplied by the customer. This shall be the limit of my liability.
Photographs sent by post are the responsibility of the sender until received. Although Royal Mail's Special Delivery Guaranteed™ service offers compensation in certain circumstances, to make a claim with them (as with all insurance) you would have to “include your proof of purchase receipt and evidence of the item’s value” - meaning that you would need to be in possession of a formal valuation certificate. Few people have such a certificate, so photographs sent by post are effectively uninsured. Customers therefore send photographs by post at their own risk, and I cannot accept responsibility for items while they are in transit.
PERMISSIONS
Your photographs
The customer confirms that they own the photographs supplied or have permission from the copyright owner to provide them for restoration and editing, including the creation of edited videos (videos which may be used for marketing, exhibitions or talks, subject to the customer’s explicit consent).
Website and examples
Before-and-after photographs are sometimes shown on my website to demonstrate the restoration work I undertake. Images are displayed with the permission of the customer, or are used as representative examples of this restoration work. If you believe an image should not appear, please contact me and it will be removed promptly.
